Brooklyn Cyclones hold Seinfeld Night…and it turns out awesome

This weekend marked the 25th anniversary of “The Seinfeld Chronicles” — the pilot episode of Larry David’s famed sitcom “Seinfeld.”

To pay homage to the nine-season timeless classic, the Brooklyn Cyclones, a Short-Season A affiliate for the New York Mets, held Seinfeld Night — fitting considering the squad doesn’t play its home games all that far from where the fictional characters lived in Manhattan.

From changing the ballpark to ‘Vandelay Industries Park’ to handing out Keith Hernandez bobbleheads to having the players come out in warm-ups sporting Jerry’s notoriously bad pirate outfit to fans competing in a knife-and-candy eating contest, the Cyclones were not afraid to go all out.

Heck, even the Soup Nazi, actor Larry Thomas, threw out the first pitch.

It was a tribute that would have made Jason Alexander, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Michael Richards and Seinfeld smile.

Well maybe everyone but Louis-Dreyfus, who played the role of Elaine Benes. As part of the night’s festivities, the Cyclones held an ‘Elaine Dance Contest.’

Basically, whoever could emulate this scene the best was declared the winner:

Complete with authentic outfits, the fans did not disappoint.
