Houston Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson has made a yearly tradition of giving back. Johnson’s Christmas toy shopping spree for kids extended to an eighth year on Tuesday, as he spent his day off hosting the event at a Houston-area Toys R Us.

Each child is given a bike, gaming system and as many toys as they can grab and put in their shopping carts in 80 seconds — the number Johnson wears on the football field.

Eleven children ran up and down the aisles, filling their bins with whatever made their little hearts content.

By the time the 80 seconds were up, Johnson footed the $16,266.26 bill and brightened the lives of not only the children in attendance, but their siblings as well.

The tradition began when Johnson and his uncle were discussing what the wide receiver could do for Christmas.

“He was like, ‘Give ‘em 80 seconds to run through the store and let ‘em just get what they want.’ And I was like, ‘That’s not enough time.’ And he was like, ‘They can grab a lot.’ So we did it the first year and when the kids came back, I was like, ‘Wow, I didn’t think they could grab that much stuff in that amount of time.’ So we just rolled with it from there and we just kept doing it every year. And we just decided to give them whatever game system they wanted because they keep that stuff locked up,” Johnson told the Houston Chronicle.
