Arizona Cardinals former practice squad player Sam McGuffie never played a game in the NFL but he is now looking to win an Olympic medal this winter for his country.

The 28-year-old is now competing for the 2018 U.S. bobsled team in the 2018 Winter Olympics.

The five-foot-10 former running back played four years of collegiate football. His freshman season was at Michigan and then played his final three seasons at Rice.

In McGuffie’s sophomore season he had 1,267 yards and got into the end zone nine times. After his senior season, the Oakland Raiders signed McGuffie but was later waived.

The running back went on to having some brief time on the Cardinals and New England Patriots practice squad.

Shortly after his NFL stints, McGuffie became a member of the USA National Bobsled team. Now, he is at his first Olympics having the time of his life.
