Jabril Taylor, Pete Wahlheim honored by Arizona Cardinals

Following an impressive 35-14 win over Verrado High School last Friday night, Buckeye High School running back Jabril Taylor was named the Arizona Cardinals and Wells Fargo High School Player of the Week.

Taylor rushed for a school-record 338 yards and four touchdowns on 23 carries while adding a team-leading 72 receiving yards on two catches.

Taylor will be presented with a plaque from the Cardinals at a ceremony at Buckeye High School on Thursday, October 11 during team practice at 4 p.m.

This is the 10th year of the Arizona Cardinals Player of the Week award. The selection panel consists of a local sports panel including members of the Cardinals organization as well as media personalities.

The Arizona Cardinals also named Highland High School head coach Pete Wahlheim the Coach of the Week after his team’s 34-31 victory over previously undefeated Desert Mountain.

The 5-2 Hawks were led by running back Ryan McCord who had 22 carries for 304 yards and three touchdowns in the win.

The award will be presented to Wahlheim on Thursday, October 11at 1:30 p.m. during team practice.

The Cardinals 18-year “Coach-of-the-Week” program presents a selected high school coach with a certificate signed by Cardinals President William V. Bidwill and Head Coach Ken Whisenhunt.
