The Arizona Cardinals have signed general manager Steve Keim to a contract extension through the 2022 season.

“Steve’s performance and accomplishments as Cardinals GM speak for themselves,” said Cardinals President Michael Bidwill in a release. “His role in the team’s success over the last five seasons is undeniable. This new contract ensures that he will continue to shape our success going forward and we are thrilled about that.”

Keim joined the franchise in 1999 as a scout and moved up the ranks, holding the titles of director of college scouting and director of player personnel. He became director of player personnel in 2008 and VP of player personnel in 2012 before he was named general manager in 2013.

Following his latest promotion, Keim hired head coach Bruce Arians, and the duo led the team to a 49-30-1 record over the last five seasons before the Cardinals hired Arians’ replacement, Steve Wilks.

Wilks is also under contract through 2022.

Keim won the 2013 Pro Football Talk NFL Executive of the Year Award and earned a similar honor from Sporting News in 2014, when the Cardinals won a franchise record 11 games.

Arizona re-set the record in 2015 with 13 wins.
