It didn’t take long for the Arizona Diamondbacks to add another outfielder after J.D. Martinez agreed to a deal with the Boston Red Sox on Monday.

The team is signing outfielder Jarrod Dyson to a two-year deal.

According to MLB.com’s Steve Gilbert, the D-backs’ plan was to sign Dyson “regardless of what happened” with Martinez.

The deal is for $7.5 million over two years, per FanRag Sports’ Jon Heyman.

The 33-year-old Dyson hit .251 last year for the Seattle Mariners with five home runs and 30 RBI in 111 appearances. Known for his speed, the eight-year veteran had 28 steals for Seattle in 2017 and has 204 career stolen bases.

In September, Dyson had season-ending sports hernia surgery.

He will join David Peralta, A.J. Pollock, Yasmany Tomas, Socrates Brito and Jeremy Hazelbaker in the Arizona outfield.
