ASU, UA each represented on CFB Reddit’s best names in college football
When you are a sports fan, you are sure to come across a name or two that you become borderline obsessed with.
Peerless Price, a former receiver for the Buffalo Bills, comes to mind for this writer, but when gifted the expanded team base of college football, there are so many more possibilities.
College football’s subreddit looked into this and voted on the “2017 CFB Hilarious Name All-American Team.”
A Sun Devil and a Wildcat made the cut of the full starting offense, defense and special teams unit.
It was offensive guard Gerhard de Beer from Arizona and tight end Ceejhay French-Love from Arizona State who represented the state.
De Beer might ring a bell, as he made headlines for being one of the top discus throwers in the world for his age and expressed the desire to punt for the team, the punting that former head coach Rich Rodriguez described like “a shotgun” was going off.
French-Love, who will be a senior this season, will be remembered for one of the wildest plays in college football last year.
On fourth down with 2:04 left and the Sun Devils needing a first down to seal a win, six players would wind up in the path of Manny Wilkins’ throw. In a miraculous turnaround after Kalen Ballage jumped for the ball and didn’t all-out reach for it, it landed in the hands of French-Love, which locked up the upset win.
Other notable members of the team include Nebraska defensive end Freedom Akinmoladun and Notre Dame wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown.
