It’s no secret that the Arizona Cardinals are going after quarterback Kirk Cousins in free agency.
If the Cardinals were to find themselves out of the running for Cousins, however, three other potential options they could be looking into are Sam Bradford, Teddy Bridgewater and Josh McCown, reports 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station’s Mike Jurecki.
Bradford, 30, had an injury-riddled 2017.
The former No. 1 overall pick by the St. Louis Rams in the 2010 NFL Draft, Bradford played in only two games for the Vikings last season, coming off a 2016 season that saw him set a Vikings record for completion percentage in a season.
Bradford was sharp in Week 1 against the Saints, completing 27-of-32 passes for 346 yards and three touchdowns, but would miss the next three games because of a knee injury. He would return against in Chicago in Week 5, but still looked bothered by his left knee and would come out after attempting 11 passes.
Less than a month later, Bradford would undergo a knee scope and was placed on injured reserve the next day on Nov. 8.
The 25-year-old Bridgewater has also had setbacks.
After starting a combined 28 games for Minnesota in his first two seasons and completing nearly 65 percent of his passes, Bridgewater missed the entire 2016 season due to a non-contact injury in his left leg suffered in late August of that year. That tear of his ACL and other structural damage kept Bridgewater out nearly the whole 2017 season as well. He returned in Week 15, throwing his only two passes of the season.
The most experienced of the three, McCown, 38, has played in the NFL for 14 seasons.
He got his start in Arizona as a third-round pick in 2002, spending four years with the Cardinals. He is coming off the best season of his career in New York with the Jets. McCown completed 67.3 percent of his passes for 2,926 yards, 18 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He set career-highs in completions, passing yards and touchdowns.
Like the other two quarterbacks, McCown also had an injury impact his latest season. He broke his left hand in Week 14 and missed the rest of the season.
