The search for a second cornerback has entered the forefront of the Arizona Cardinals’ free agency priorities now that the quarterback and offensive line positions have been addressed.
One such option is a familiar face to first-year head coach Steve Wilks. The Cardinals have shown interest in Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Robert McClain, reports the Houston Chronicle’s Aaron Wilson.
Tampa Bay is also considering bringing McClain back for 2018.
The 29-year-old McClain played 14 games for the Bucs last season, recording 50 tackles and a career-high three interceptions.
Prior to his single season in Tampa Bay, McClain played 14 games in 2015-16 under Wilks, then the defensive backs coach for the Carolina Panthers.
McClain also played in three games for the San Diego Chargers in 2016 and from 2012-14 was a key player for the Atlanta Falcons.
He was a seventh-round pick by the Panthers in 2010.
