Free agent defensive tackle Xavier Williams will not return to the Arizona Cardinals after they declined to match a contract offer from the Kansas City Chiefs, 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station’s John Gambadoro confirmed Tuesday.

The Kansas City Star first reported that Williams’ offer was not matched.

Williams was Arizona’s only restricted free agent this offseason.

Arizona tendered the tackle to make him a restricted free agent but did so at a price of $1.9 million, the slot for an undrafted free agent signing, meaning the team will not net any draft pick compensation for losing him in free agency.

Williams recorded 20 tackles, 0.5 sacks and one forced fumble in 2017.

The 2015 undrafted tackle out of Northern Iowa will play for the professional team near where he grew up and went to school at Grandview High just outside Kansas City. He visited Kansas City over the weekend.

Along the defensive line, Arizona has not made any additions and could lose veteran defensive lineman Frostee Rucker, who is an unrestricted free agent.

The team also released defensive end Josh Mauro and lost free agent outside linebacker Kareem Martin to the New York Giants since free agency began.
