Robin Lopez’s fate uncertain according to Alvin Gentry

Whether or not Robin Lopez will be a part of the 2011-12 Phoenix Suns is the question that has been on the fans and medias mind’s over the last few days. Apparently it’s been on the mind of head coach Alvin Gentry as well.

“I think that’s something we’ll have to sit down at the end of the year [and discuss],” he told Sports 620 KTAR’s Gambo and Ash Thursday in reference to Lopez’s future. “We’re going to evaluate every player on our team and see going forward if it makes sense for him to be part of our team. It’s not just Robin that we’ll take a look at. We’ll take a look at every one through 13 really.”

While Gentry was noncommittal as to the future of the big man in Phoenix, one thing he was very up front about was Lopez’s play this season.

“He just has not had a good year,” the head coach said. “There is no way to really masquerade it. He hasn’t played well at all. We’ve tried to give him every opportunity to play well and help us. It’s just been a year I’m sure he’s disappointed in and obviously we’re disappointed too.”
