The Arizona Diamondbacks optioned reliever Matt Koch to Triple-A Reno on Thursday, cutting the roster down to 34 a week before opening day.

Koch went 2-1 this spring, making four starts and appearing in six games.

In 14.1 innings, he allowed 16 hits and seven earned runs (three homers). He recorded 11 strikeouts to two walks.

Koch pitched 45.0 innings for the Reno Aces last season, giving up 68 hits and 42 earned runs for an 8.40 ERA. He posted 25 strikeouts to 15 walks.

The right-hander made one appearance for the D-backs, giving up three earned runs without recording an out against the New York Mets on Aug. 22.

In 2016, his first year in the majors, Koch made seven appearances and two starts for Arizona.
