The latest episode of Facebook Watch’s “Cardinals Flight Plan” mini-series dropped Wednesday night and showed the Arizona Cardinals’ process throughout the beginning of free agency.
That included the team signing Sam Bradford, who was seen arriving at the Arizona facility via a helicopter with team president Michael Bidwill.
Bradford shook hands with the team’s new head coach Steve Wilks and signed his contract alongside general manager Steve Keim.
“I’m about as competitive as they come,” Bradford said. “I want to win in everything we do.”
Bradford commented on his knee, which he doesn’t view as a concern.
“My knee feels great,” he said. “In my mind, it’s really not an issue. Obviously, I think everyone outside of this building is probably worried about it.”
Keim compared Bradford to former Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer, who notes there are differences but it’s a similar situation to help Bradford.
“I think we’re putting them in a position to succeed and we certainly did that with Carson and I think Sam is the kind of player physically who can do the things that Carson did on the field for us,” he said.
New offensive lineman Andre Smith was also seen coming to the facilities and signing his two-year deal.
“Just to have the dominant guy in the backfield is just amazing,” Smith said of David Johnson. “Looking forward to making some holes for him and watching him celebrate in the end zone.”
The biggest addition to the offensive line, of course, was Justin Pugh, who also signed his contract with Keim.
Offensive line coach Ray Brown, who came with Wilks from Carolina, discussed the new names to the roster and his relationship with D.J. Humphries. Humphries said he connected with Brown “immediately” at the NFL Combine.
“D.J. was a guy that I really was fond of 1) because he could play football but 2) because of the type of young man he is,” Brown said.
“When I found out that he was coming here I was like ‘oh my god!'” Humphries said. “This guy played 20 years at my position and you’re going to put me in a room with him? That’s dangerous. I really feel like that’s going to be a hell of a combination between me and him because we communicate so well and he’s done it.”
The next episode of “Cardinals Flight Plan” is slated to come out on April 11.
