Steve Nash watches NBA Finals from stands, ‘strange experience’

You think Steve Nash wishes he was playing basketball right now?

The Suns point guard (for now), Nash spent his Thursday evening watching good buddy Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks battle the Heat in Game 2 of the NBA Finals.

Being at my 1st NBA game since college was a strange experience. Great game and comeback by the Mavs. Still shocked.less than a minute ago via Echofon Favorite Retweet Reply

First, it’s interesting how quickly and often Nash takes to Twitter, especially while watching a game. When things are that exciting and intense, do fans think to take to Twitter? Second, a strange experience?

Maybe it shouldn’t be terribly surprising. Nash, like pretty much every competitor, probably has a tough time watching others do something while he is left out. He knows he could be out there, and odds are a part of him feels like he should still be playing. Combine that with seeing his best friend and former team rally to win their most important game of the season? That can’t be easy.

Now, what does this mean for Nash’s future with the Suns? Probably nothing. Almost certainly nothing. However, watching others compete on the game’s biggest stage may lead to him changing his mind about being willing to take part in another rebuilding process, as he has to know his chances of becoming an NBA Champion dwindle with every season he goes ringless.

Will Nash ask to be traded to a contender? Time will tell, but if the 37-year-old wants to play in the NBA Finals, unfortunately, it’s not likely to happen as a Phoenix Sun.
