Williams, not Fredette, is worth trading up for

The Phoenix Suns may identify the guy they want, but waiting for him to fall to 13 may be a bad idea. So, the only other option would be trading up.
That would not be a good idea, according to Sports 620 KTAR’s Doug Franz, if player they covet is Jimmer Fredette.
“I look at this with Jimmer and say the only player I’m trading up for is Derrick Williams, that is the only guy I’m willing to trade up for,” he said on the Doug and Wolf show.
Without question if the Suns want Williams they’ll have to move up — way up — as there is zero chance he lasts to No. 13. Zero, zilch, nada.
That said, they would not have to move up nearly as far to nab the BYU star. That, Sports 620 KTAR’s Paul Calvisi said on the show, is a temptation the Suns must resist.
“There’s a honkin’ huge BYU following in the state of Arizona,” he said. “It would be attractive to the Suns. If he was there at 13 I would understand it, I would truly understand it.
“But how big a liability would he be, though, on the defensive end of the floor, where do you put him?”
With just more than a week until the draft plenty of NBA executives are probably asking themselves that very question.
