The Phoenix Suns will be hosting Pride Night on Tuesday at Talking Stick Resort Arena as they take on the Sacramento Kings.
As part of the festivities, the Suns will host a pregame panel from 5-6 p.m., including former NBA player Jason Collins, former Tempe mayor Neil Giuliano, co-founder and president of ONE Community Angela Hughey and COO of the Phoenix Mercury Vince Kozar.
The panel discussion, which includes Collins, the first openly gay player in the NBA, and Giuliano, the first openly gay mayor of a large U.S. city, will be open to the public and streamed on the Suns’ Facebook page.
“We are committed to engendering an environment that embraces inclusion and diversity both inside and outside our organization,” said Suns President and CEO Jason Rowley in a press release.
The Suns are partnering with the Trevor Project, the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services for LGBTQ young people, which will receive 10 percent of proceeds from the Suns Team Shop that night.
A t-shirt giveaway to the first 5,000 fans in attendance features the Suns’ logo in rainbow colors with a purple base.
“We’re honored to celebrate and support the LGBTQ community with our first-ever Pride Night,” said Rowley.
