The Arizona Diamondbacks have optioned right-handed pitcher Matt Koch to Triple-A Reno following Saturday’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals, the team announced.
A corresponding move is expected to be made before Sunday’s game, the team said on Twitter.
First baseman Christian Walker was also officially recalled by the team on Sunday.
Koch was recalled on April 3, following the team’s 15-inning marathon game against the Los Angeles Dodgers, from Reno and pitched in Saturday’s contest, throwing 2.0 scoreless innings with three strikeouts. Twenty-one of his 34 pitches were strikes. The D-backs fell 5-3 to the Cardinals.
In three seasons with Arizona, Koch has made two starts and appeared in nine games, going 1-1 with one save, a 3.15 ERA and 13 strikeouts.
In his six minor league seasons — with the New York Mets’ and D-backs’ organizations, Koch’s posted a 30-26 record with a 4.60 ERA in 122 games. He’s started 81.
