Steve Nash has no plans to play in China

Quite a few NBA stars may plan on playing overseas should the lockout last into the season, but it appears Steve Nash won’t be one of them.

According to a report on China Daily, Nash said during an event hosted by his sponsor Luyou he would have played overseas if he didn’t have three daughters to take care of.

“I know I have got a lot of diehard fans here, it’s incredible. The basketball league here is also awesome. It’s definitely a good league for all players worldwide. But I would like to stay with my family during the holidays,” said Nash, who arrived in China last Saturday for a four-day charity visit organized by the sports company.

And, when the lockout does end, Nash said he has no plans to play anywhere but Phoenix this season.

“Every player wants the ring. We were very close to it many times. Changing teams may be a way. But I don’t think I will join another team; I prefer to stay in Phoenix. Hopefully, we can go further next season,” said Nash.

Nash’s desire to remain a Sun may last just one season, as he is set to become a free agent in 2012. But until then, it seems as though the only uniform the point guard wears will be of the purple and orange variety.
