Report: Arizona receives commitment from Pitt grad transfer Luther
The Arizona Wildcats have slowly been recuperating their recruiting class for next season as the shadow of the college basketball recruitment scandal still hangs over Tucson.
In April, they’ve signed four-star guard Devonaire Doutrive, Belgian forward Omar Thielemans and now have a grad transfer.
Pittsburgh power forward Ryan Luther will transfer to Tucson with one year of eligibility remaining, according to 247Sports’ Evan Daniels.
In his senior season for the Panthers, Luther averaged 12.7 points, 10.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.6 steals a game on 45.7 percent shooting from the field and 38.7 percent shooting from three-point range. He only played in 10 games and has dealt with foot injuries the past two seasons.
Luther will join sophomore Ira Lee and redshirt junior Chase Jeter in Arizona’s frontcourt. Jeter. a former five-star recruit, transferred from Duke.
The Wildcats originally had commitments from four-star big man Shareef O’ Neal and four-star guard Brandon Williams, but both decommitted following the news of the scandal.
O’ Neal committed to UCLA while Williams left his recruitment open and has Arizona in his last three schools.
