Get ready for the quarterback whisperer to begin whispering obscenities under his breath. Former Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians will be censoring himself weekly after lining up the beginnings of his post-coaching career.

Arians has signed with CBS Sports as an NFL game analyst, the network announced on Thursday. He joins a booth composed of play-by-play man Greg Gumbel, analyst Trent Green and sideline reporter Jamie Erdahl.

“I’ve interviewed in the booth and the studio for all the networks,” Arians told Bickley & Marotta on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station in mid-April.

“I’m really excited about it. It keeps me in the game. I want to be in the game — I want to be involved on Sundays, preferably at game-site because I like to see coaches and players.”

Gumbel and Green were already paired as one of the top duos working for CBS Sports, which also among their eight crews in 2017 employed booths of Jim Nantz and Tony Romo, Ian Eagle and Dan Fouts, and Kevin Harlan and Rich Gannon.

“Combining his contemporary football insight, having just stepped off the sidelines, along with his personality and unique manner in which he delivers his analysis, we are confident Bruce will develop into an insightful, entertaining and informative analyst alongside Greg and Trent,” said CBS Sports chairman Sean McManus.

Arians retired in January after his fifth season coaching the Cardinals, who went 49-30-1 with two playoff berths in his tenure.

The 65-year-old retired as a coach with a 58-33-1 record, including a stint as the interim coach for the Indianapolis Colts.
