The Arizona Cardinals changed things up in the sixth round, picking a defensive player for the first time in the 2018 NFL Draft.

The Cardinals selected cornerback Chris Campbell out of Penn State with the No. 182 overall pick (sixth round) on Saturday.

In four years with the Nittany Lions, Campbell played in 44 games. He totaled 102 tackles and three interceptions. He also knocked down 21 passes.

His best season came in his senior year.

The 6-foot-1, 195-pound cornerback registered 45 tackles, an interception and deflected 11 passes in 2017.

He finished tied for eighth in the Big Ten in passes defensed per game with 1.0 and recorded a deflection in seven straight games.

For his efforts, he was awarded honorable-mention All-Big Ten honors and the team’s Quarterback Club Award, which goes to the most deserving senior.

Campbell joins quarterback Josh Rosen, wide receiver Christian Kirk, offensive lineman Mason Cole and running back Chase Edmonds as the selections made by the Cardinals in six rounds of the 2018 NFL Draft.

He is the first defensive player taken by the team.

Arizona has just one more pick in this year’s Draft at No. 254.
