Stoudemire is struggling, but can Suns stop him?

Jan 18, 2012, 6:59 PM | Updated: 7:46 pm

Amare Stoudemire is in a slump, but playing the Suns could
change that.

Stoudemire has played his former team twice since leaving
for the Big Apple last season, putting up big numbers in
each game.

STAT’s first meeting with his former team came in front of
his former fans at the US Airways Center, a game that saw
him score 23 points while pulling down nine rebounds.
Stoudemire also blocked a pair of shots and recorded two
assists in the Knicks’ 121-96 win.

The second meeting between the teams last season was good
for Stoudemire’s stat line, but not the Knicks. Amare
scored 41 points and grabbed six rebounds, but the Suns
rode Vince Carter’s hot shooting to a 129-121 victory.

A career 22 points per game scorer, Stoudemire has
struggled so far this season, averaging just 17.9 points
per game with 7.5 rebounds. The numbers aren’t terrible,
but the 6-7 Knicks need better.

If history is any indication they’ll get it tonight, as
the Suns showed no signs of being able to stop the forward
last season and haven’t exactly improved defensively,
since.
