The Arizona Diamondbacks will face Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Rich Hill on Tuesday, opening a two-game road series against a pitcher who hasn’t appeared since April 14.

The left-handed Hill comes off a stint on the 10-day disabled list that was caused by inflammation on his left ring finger.

Los Angeles optioned right-handed reliever Brock Stewart to its Triple-A squad to make room for Hill.

For his fourth start of 2018, Hill will square off in Los Angeles against Arizona’s Zack Godley (4-2, 3.41 ERA). Godley is coming off a loss to the Dodgers in his last start six days ago — he went 6.0 innings with one earned run, five hits and three walks allowed.

The 38-year-old Hill threw a five-hit shutout in his first game of 2018 against the San Francisco Giants, then gave up three runs over 4.0 innings in a matchup against the same team six days later. He allowed seven runs, including two home runs, in a 5.0-frame effort against the Diamondbacks in his last appearance before the injury.

On Wednesday, the Dodgers will counter the D-backs’ starter, Patrick Corbin (4-0, 2.15 ERA), with Alex Wood (0-3, 3.83 ERA) for the teams’ second matchup.
