The Tucson Roadrunners, the Arizona Coyotes’ AHL affiliate, were eliminated from the playoffs on Friday by the Texas Stars.

The Roadrunners and Stars were tied for first in the Pacific Division, and in the matchup to see which team would be the last remaining from their division in the Calder Cup playoffs, Texas won the series in five games. After winning the series opener at home, Tucson lost four straight to the Stars, including two overtime losses in Games 3 and 5.

In only year two of its existence, Tucson hosted its first playoff game in the first round against the San Jose Barracuda, a 6-0 win.

The club entered the playoffs as one of the favorites to win the entire tournament, having the third-highest winning percentage in the AHL regular season.

Former top-3 pick Dylan Strome tied for the team lead in playoff scoring with eight points in nine games. Lawson Crouse, who has spent time with the Coyotes, also had eight points, as did center Carter Camper.
