Suns score season low, blown out by Blazers

Jan 28, 2012, 6:10 AM | Updated: 6:20 am

Sebastian Telfair helped the Suns avoid a franchise-worst scoring performance — and just in the nick of time.

The Suns were trailing the Portland Trail Blazers 108-68 before Telfair hit a 25-foot three pointer with 0:18 seconds left in the fourth quarter to keep his team from tying an embarrassing milestone.

The worst offensive showing in the history of Suns basketball came on March 8, 1981 against the Kansas City Kings when they scored an abysmal 68 points.

Still, the Suns did reach a new low light in an already mystifyingly troubling season by producing their lowest offensive effort of the year.

To put into context just how bad the Suns were Friday night — Grant Hill put up a team best 12 points, going 5/13 from the field — showcasing a shoddy night of shooting that almost matched historic proportions.

Just when you thought the Suns couldn’t fall any lower, they came dangerously close in Portland.
