The Arizona Diamondbacks finalized their deal with the Boston Red Sox from March 24 for infielder Deven Marrero, sending left-handed pitcher Josh Taylor to Boston.

The deal originally was for a player to be named later or cash considerations and Taylor became that player to be named later.

Taylor was pitching with Single-A Advanced Visalia where he was 1-2 with five saves and a 2.81 ERA. The lefty has been in the minors for five seasons, spending 2015-18 in D-backs organizations.

The 27-year-old Marrero has appeared in 28 of the D-backs’ 41 games. In 56 plate appearances, he’s hitting .196 with five RBI.

In college, Marrero won the 2011 Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year and was a three-time All-Conference player for the Arizona State Sun Devils.
