Doug surprises Wolf with Pantera’s Phil Anselmo after Pantera call-out

For years now, Doug & Wolf co-host Ron Wolfley has called out sports figures with all the passion and all the rage of the heavy metal band Pantera lead singer Phil Anselmo.
And until Friday, Anselmo and Wolf had never met. To surprise Wolf, co-host Doug Franz invited Anselmo to listen in during Wolf’s call-out of a guest he didn’t yet know by name. It’s safe to say Wolf got a bit giddy the moment he realized who that special guest was.
“I loved every second of it,” Anselmo told Wolf.
“Wolf, are you ready to freak out? I’m sitting here listening to your voice, and I’m like, ‘God, he sounds like the dude who calls the Cardinals games’ and it’s you! You sound like you’re 40 feet tall. This is great. I know you as well as you know me, from your voice.”
On Doug & Wolf, Anselmo discussed his current career moves and his sports interests in a special segment on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station.
To wrap it, Anselmo asked Wolf, one time, if he was talking to him, before adding: “You do it better than me.”
