Markieff Morris hampered by flu

Markieff Morris suited up Sunday night but did not play, missing his second
straight game as he recovers from a bout with the flu.

“I definitely don’t feel myself,” Morris said following the Suns’ shoot-around
Sunday morning. “I’m feeling better. Definitely a lot better than what I was
feeling but I’m not 100% yet. Until then, I think the best decision is to just wait
until I’m better.”

Head coach Alvin Gentry said his rookie power forward hasn’t gotten all of his
strength back.

According to Morris, he’s regained seven or eight of the 13 pounds he lost.
He spent five hours in the hospital Thursday getting IV treatment.

Morris explained he started to feel bad Monday evening. He was on the court
for only six minutes against San Antonio Tuesday. He wanted to go the next
night against the Clippers but “I was bad. I couldn’t do it.” He instead spent
the entire game in the visitors locker room.

“At times I feel like I’m fully energized,” Morris said, “and at other times I just
still feel down. Basically, I’m just taking medicine and waiting to heal.”
