Watch people try and fail to spell Suns coach Igor Kokoskov’s name

“K-A-K-O-S-K-O-V.”

“K-U-K-O-V-I-C-H.”

“K-A-K-O-A-S-H-I-A.”

The new Suns head coach’s name is hard to spell.

Apparently, it’s hard for some Suns fans – and a pair of Portland Trailblazer fans – to even say.

98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station update anchor and producer Andy Greenberg took to the streets to find out.

Andy on the Street took over Old Town Scottsdale to ask fans a simple question: How do you spell Igor Kokoškov’s name?

“I-G-O-R.”

His first name is easy enough.

The second part gets tricky.

“C-O-C-O-U-C-H,” said one man resembling Elvis Presley dressed in an outfit with two Superman logos and a picture of the Kryptonian in uniform.

“K-U-C-H-O-V-I-T-C-H,” attempted a Trailblazer fan who did not resemble Elvis and was wearing a normal outfit.

The man sitting next to him, also a Trailblazer fan, almost got the first two letters.

“K-O … No,” he said before changing his mind. “K-A-K-O-S-C-H-O-V-O.”

Two women worked together to spell K-O-C-U-S-Y-E-H, but one took another try.

She went with “K-O-S-C-H-O-C-H-O” before being shown the correct spelling.

“Oh, I forgot that little arrow,” she said of Kokoškov’s last name, as if that was her one mistake of the attempt.

It’s forgivable; the coach, hired only a little over a month ago, has a tough name.

If he can help the Suns win games, maybe it’ll become more recognizable.

Maybe, Valley residents will even learn the proper name for the little arrow (it’s a caron) (with a hard ‘A’ noise like in “carry”).
