The Phoenix Suns will add Jason Staudt as an assistant coach and Devin Smith as a player development coach to Igor Kokoskov’s coaching staff, 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station’s John Gambadoro reported Sunday.
According to a previous report by ESPN’s Marc Spears, Staudt had been hired by the Orlando Magic as a pro personnel scout prior to last season, and had previously been an advanced scout in the Portland Trail Blazers organization. Staudt was also an advanced scout for the Rockets, according to a report from some time ago by OregonLive.
The addition of Staudt and Smith furthers the completion of Kokoskov’s staff, which already has former Milwaukee Bucks interim coach Joe Prunty and former NBA player and Kings assistant coach Corliss Williamson.
The Suns hired Kokoskov on May 2 after Jay Triano led the team as the interim head coach during the 2017-18 season. The longtime NBA assistant gained experience as a head coach with national teams in Europe.
