Diamondbacks pitcher Robbie Ray gave up two runs off five hits in 2.1 innings during his first rehab start at Visalia on Thursday night.

Both runs allowed were off solo home runs.

It was his first game action in two months. He has been out since April 29 with a right oblique strain.

Ray threw 46 pitches Thursday, right around the goal of 50 that the D-backs set for him.

He struck out three batters and threw 67 percent of his pitches for strikes.

The D-backs have settled on a rotation including Matt Koch and Clay Buchholz since Ray and Taijuan Walker were struck with injuries. Additionally, Shelby Miller is still recovering from Tommy John surgery and is scheduled to pitch for Visalia on Saturday.

While it is unclear when Miller or Ray will return, both Buchholz and Koch have pitched adequately for the D-backs in the interim. Buchholz had a 1.88 ERA through four games before allowing five runs on Tuesday, and Koch allowed two runs in six innings of work Thursday.

In the majors, Ray had a 4.88 ERA over his six starts before getting injured.
