Michael Beasley is at a defining moment in his career, but the Phoenix Suns are betting they can mentor the 6-foot-10 forward into becoming a successful scorer in the NBA.
“He’s at a crossroads and hopefully he’s going to grow and we are going to pour every ounce of energy in helping him and supporting him,” Suns’ President of Basketball Operations Lon Babby told Arizona Sports 620’s Doug & Wolf Show Wednesday. “He understands where he is in his career and so do we and it’s a partnership.”
The 23-year-old has no shortage of talent or potential, but his past disciplinary issues, perceived immaturity and inconsistency have garnered the former No. 2 pick an unsavory reputation.
There have been no signs of bad behavior from Beasley to this point, in fact according to Babby, he’s been a pleasure to deal with off of the court.
“Michael Beasley has been a joy so far,” Babby stated. “He’s an incredibly likable fellow. He’s affable, he’s funny, he’s a joy to be around and he’s very, very intelligent and I think when fans get to know him they are really going to like him.”
