The Arizona Diamondbacks announced Friday they have officially completed the July 31 deal with the Texas Rangers for left-handed reliever Jake Diekman.
In the deal, the D-backs sent right-handed pitcher Wei-Chieh Huang and a player to be named later. That player is left-handed pitcher Joshua Javier.
Javier, 19, was signed to a minor league contract by Arizona in September of 2015. Playing rookie-level ball in the AZL this season, Javier has a 2.80 ERA in 10 appearances.
Diekman’s career with the D-backs has gotten off to a rough start. In five games pitched over 3.0 innings, the 31-year-old has allowed five runs, two earned, for a 6.00 ERA.
For this season, Diekman has a salary of $2.8 million and will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
