Inferno named Live Más Student Section of Week for MSU game

Sep 13, 2018, 12:43 PM

In ASU’s thrilling 16-13 win over Michigan State, Sun Devil Stadium’s student section, known as the Inferno, was rocking. So much so that it earned the Taco Bell Live Más Student Section of the Week honors.

The contest’s website praised the students for creating a ruckus environment in spite of the 100-degree heat.

The Inferno, Arizona State’s Student Section, helped energize their team to a marquee upset win over No. 15 Michigan State. Braving the 100-degree heat in Tempe, Arizona State students — sitting in the end zone — made an already tough environment even worse for Michigan State.

It also acknowledged the Inferno’s role in causing one of several Michigan State penalties throughout the game.

At one point, they appeared to play a role in a delay of game penalty and were deafeningly loud the entire game.

A combination of the section’s dedication and impact helped the Inferno win the Student Section of the Week, according to the website.

Tradition, endurance and impact… qualities that make them the Live Más Student Section of the Week.

In 2013, Taco Bell created the Live Más Student Section, seating 500 students from each school for free with a pregame tailgate party, for College Football Playoff games. Taco Bell will once again distribute 3,000 tickets to students of schools competing in the 2019 College Football Playoff.

This year, however, Taco Bell is taking it up a notch.

At the end of the year, the Live Más Student Section of the Year will be crowned to the rowdiest, most loyal student section, based on previous weeks’ winners of Student Section of the Week. Before ASU won in Week 2, Notre Dame was crowned Student Section of the Week in the Fighting Irish’s convincing win over Michigan.

It’s early, but ASU already has a leg up on the competition.
