Bradford demoted to third string, inactive against Seahawks

The Arizona Cardinals made quarterback Sam Bradford inactive for Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks after listing him as the No. 3 quarterback on the depth chart.

By making the move, the Cardinals would save approximately $312,500 and could save as much as $4 million dollars if they continue to inactivate him throughout the season, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Bradford will still make $16 million dollars this season while serving as the third string option for the team.

Cardinals head coach Steve Wilks confirmed the move was about making the best football decision. He added after the game that Bradford is healthy.

Former Tampa Bay Buccaneer and Chicago Bear Mike Glennon served as the backup to rookie starter Josh Rosen for the first start of Rosen’s NFL career.

On Monday, head coach Steve Wilks named the rookie as the starting quarterback for the team’s Week 4 matchup against Seattle.

Rosen appeared in the fourth quarter of the Cardinals 16-14 loss in Week 3 against the Bears when he was inserted to replace the struggling former Heisman Trophy winner, Bradford.
