GLENDALE, Ariz. — For the first time as a member of the Arizona Cardinals, quarterback Mike Glennon will be active.

He will serve as the backup to starter Josh Rosen for Sunday’s Week 4 game against the Seattle Seahawks at State Farm Stadium.

Arizona made the move by demoting veteran Sam Bradford from his starting role that he held through three games, as the veteran was placed on the inactive list with the rookie Rosen taking the starting role.

Rosen replaced Bradford in the fourth quarter of Arizona’s Week 3 loss to the Bears before being officially demoted heading into preparation for hosting the Seahawks. To that point, Bradford completed 63 percent of his passes for just 5.0 yards per attempt this season, throwing two touchdowns and four interceptions while fumbling three times.

“I think the one thing that probably comes to mind is when you watch Sam play in the past, his comfort level in the pocket, his ability to play balanced with his feet, his body, and to throw with the type of accuracy he is historically known for, those are the things that I thought escaped Sam in this offense,” Cardinals general manager Steve Keim said on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station’s Doug & Wolf show Friday.

“Sam’s a diligent guy, he worked extremely hard. We’re very, very thankful for what he’s done here, but this is a results-based business.”

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Sunday that the team has demoted Bradford and will save around $4 million if they keep him inactive for the rest of the year. Keim told Doug & Wolf Friday that the team will make the best “football decision” and that their actions would not be motivated by finances.

Glennon, who like Bradford was signed as a free agent this offseason, saw limited action for the Cardinals in the preseason. He completed 18-of-27 passes (67 percent) for 115 yards, a touchdown and an interception.

Joining Bradford on the inactive list against Seattle are right tackle Andre Smith (elbow), running back T.J. Logan, cornerback Deatrick Nichols, guard Jeremy Vujnovich, tackle Korey Cunningham and defensive end Ifeadi Odenigbo.

Smith is the only player who was listed as questionable on the Week 4 injury report who will not play for Arizona. Defensive linemen Corey Peters (elbow) and Robert Nkemdiche (knee) are active, as is receiver Larry Fitzgerald (hamstring).

The Seahawks will be without running back Chris Carson (hip), who carried the ball 32 times last week. Rookie back Rashaad Penny will likely take over starting duties.

Linebacker K.J. Wright, defensive end Dion Jordan, guard Ethan Pocic, receiver Keenan Reynolds, safety Shalom Luani and defensive end Rasheem Green are also out for Seattle.
