The Arizona Coyotes announced Friday they have assigned forward Laurent Dauphin to the Tucson Roadrunners (AHL) for conditioning purposes.

Per the NHL’s collective bargaining agreement (CBA), Conditioning Loans are assignments for which a player — at his consent — is assigned to a minor league team for a period no longer than 14 days, and continues to receive the same salary and benefits that would normally apply if that player remained with the NHL club.

According to the CBA, players who are loaned to NHL teams’ minor league affiliates for conditioning purposes are still included on the team’s active roster. Thus, there would not be a corresponding roster move for Dauphin’s assignment to Tucson.

Dauphin, 23, was the Coyotes’ second-round pick in 2013 and has appeared in a total of 34 NHL games over three seasons. Arizona traded him to Chicago with Connor Murphy last offseason, but he came back to the Coyotes with Richard Panik in the trade that sent Anthony Duclair to the Blackhawks last year.

He began this season on the Coyotes’ roster but did not play in the season-opener on Thursday, and now finds himself back in Tucson, where he played 17 games and scored 15 points last year, according to hockeydb.
