John Skelton preparing for another start

Nov 10, 2011, 12:02 AM | Updated: 1:29 am

As Kevin Kolb recovers from dealing with a turf toe
injury, backup quarterback John Skelton is preparing to
start Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Skelton is coming off a home victory against the St. Louis
Rams, but going on the road in Philadelphia will present a
much greater challenge.

“It will be a hostile environment, although he got an
opportunity to do that last year so it won’t be completely
new to him,” head coach Ken Whisenhunt said.

Skelton started two games on the road last season, losing
contests against Carolina and San Francisco.

Skelton made good a good impression with his team last
week and looks to build off of his first start.

“There were plays to be made out there that were left on
the field, there were some simple things,” Skelton said.
“On the other hand, there were some plays where we did
well.”

Skelton was 20-35 and threw for 222 yards and a score.
More importantly, he did not throw an interception, which
will be key in playing a tough Philadelphia defense.

“They have a lot of talent, a lot of speed across the
board, if we can handle their front four we should be
okay,” Skelton said.

Skelton could win over a lot of critics with a win over
the heavily favored Eagles, but he already has plenty
support from his teammates.

“I think he’s going to do a good if Kevin can’t go,” wide
receiver Larry Fitzgerald said, “we’re going to rally
around him and try to help him.”
