Even in defeat, Phoenix Suns shooting guard Devin Booker remains humble.

The character of the 21-year-old fan favorite was on full display after Saturday night’s 119-91 loss against the Denver Nuggets. Immediately following the game, Booker rushed over to a young boy wearing Suns gear and proceeded to take off his jersey and sign it for the fan.

Booker’s personability is one of the traits that’s allowed him to create a bond with the Phoenix fan base. On the court, Booker is a scoring threat night in and night out. Off the court, his warm and easygoing personality makes it easy for fans to embrace and relate to the young guard.

Heading up north to face one of the league’s most explosive scoring teams is a difficult task, but Booker was up for the challenge. He finished with 25 points and seven assists in 36 minutes of play. He shot an uncharacteristically low percentage, making just 5-of-15 shots from the field and only 1-of-6 from three.

Whether it was the on-ball defense of Nuggets swingman Gary Harris or the high altitude wearing on him, it was an inefficient game for the franchise cornerstone. Even so, his modest attitude and outward personality shined through as he created a lasting memory for the young fan.

Phoenix recognizes the potential Booker has on and off the court, which is why he was rewarded with a five-year $158 million rookie-scale contract extension over the summer. It was an exciting offseason for the rising star, who was name-dropped by popular rapper Drake in his collaboration with Houston artist Travis Scott entitled “SICKO MODE.”

Regardless of the team’s performance, Booker will be an icon on the Phoenix community for years to come.
