The Arizona Cardinals signed cornerbacks David Amerson and Leonard Johnson on Wednesday, filling two open roster spots after waiving safety Eddie Pleasant and placing guard Justin Pugh on injured reserve a day prior.

Arizona also added rookie offensive lineman Rick Leonard to the practice squad.

Amerson, 26, was a second-round pick by the Redskins in 2013 and has 68 games played in the NFL between Washington and the Oakland Raiders. He played six games with Oakland last year and for the Kansas City Chiefs in training camp this season before being released in September.

Over his career, Amerson has tallied 251 tackles, two forced fumbles and eight interceptions with 63 passes defensed.

Johnson is in his sixth NFL season and played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2012-14), New England Patriots (2015, 2017) and Carolina Panthers (2016). He has 77 games of experience and has 183 tackles, seven forced fumbles, 32 passes defensed and five interceptions in his career.

Amerson and Johnson join Patrick Peterson, Bene Benwikere, Jamar Taylor and Brandon Williams on the cornerback depth chart.

Leonard fills a vacancy on the practice squad created Tuesday when the Cardinals released receiver Montay Crockett.

The fourth-round pick (127th overall) by the New Orleans Saints in the 2018 NFL Draft, Leonard was released by New Orleans in September and on the Rams practice squad until being released Nov. 6.
