Frustrated by injury, Kolb is nearing return

Nov 17, 2011, 4:13 PM | Updated: 5:56 pm

Kevin Kolb is tired of being injured.

He’s tired of being unable to practice with his team and
wants to get back on the field.

“I didn’t expect to take this long,” he said of the
recovery. “My injuries have either been a broken bone or
the
concussion, which is pretty straightforward on the
recovery
time, so this is a little bit frustrating for me.”

Kolb said he is glad the team has won the last two with
him
out of the lineup, but that every day is bringing him
closer
to the field. In fact, he practiced some Wednesday.

“It’s getting better, obviously,” he said. “Took some
individual work and started dropping on it a little bit
and that’s a big step for me, obviously.”

The QB’s coach knows it’s not a question of desire, but
instead making sure Kolb can be effective upon return.

“We’ve got to make sure that he can get through all the
movements and be able to plant and throw as well as move
out of the pocket if he needs to,” Ken Whisenhunt said.

But the good news is progress is being made, and it’s
becoming more tangible.

“Getting back in the feeling of football movement,” Kolb
said. “[Wednesday] was my first time to throw to a guy
moving across the field in three weeks, so it felt good.

“Like a kid at Christmas.”
