The Alliance of American Football held its 2019 quarterback draft on Tuesday, giving all their inaugural franchises their first signal-caller.

Among those eight franchises is the Arizona Hotshots, who will play their home games at Sun Devil Stadium under head coach Rick Neuheisel.

In the draft, the Hotshots picked sixth overall and selected former Arizona Cardinals quarterback Trevor Knight.

Knight was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Cardinals in April of 2017, heading into training camp to compete with Blaine Gabbert for the third-string quarterback job behind Carson Palmer and Drew Stanton. For final roster cuts, Knight was waived.

He started for three years at Oklahoma after redshirting as a freshman, including an impressive Sugar Bowl victory over Alabama as a sophomore in which he completed 32-of-44 passes for 348 yards with four touchdowns and one interception.

After losing his starting job, Knight was a graduate transfer and went to Texas A&M, where he posted a record of 8-5 in his last season.

In his total collegiate career, Knight threw for 5,856 yards, 44 touchdowns and 26 interceptions while rushing for an additional 16 touchdowns.

The Hotshots will make their franchise debut at home on Feb. 10 against Salt Lake at Sun Devil Stadium.
