Skelton continues to impress ESPN’s Ron Jaworski

The Cardinals may not have a QB controversy, but they
certainly have something to think about.

“When you see a guy in only his second year and the
inexperience that John has,” ESPN’s Ron Jaworski told
Arizona Sports 620’s Burns and Gambo, “to make some of the
plays he made – tremendous.”

Jaworski, who said Skelton has matured in his second NFL
season, pointed to one of Skelton’s touchdown passes to
Larry Fitzgerald as a sign that the QB is doing a great
job with “eye manipulation.”

“He looked left, looked left, drew the coverage that way,
comes back right and gets a touchdown,” he said. “Those
are the little things I look for in a quarterback’s game
and you see Skelton has picked those up very quickly.”

Skelton has not been great, having thrown a pair of
interceptions to go along with four touchdowns, but has
led the Cardinals to a pair of victories in his two
starts. Jaworski said he saw “very few negative plays in
the game” Sunday, even though he did throw a pair of
costly interceptions.

With all that, Skelton’s success (loosely defined, of
course) has many wondering if the team should keep Skelton
as the starter even when Kevin Kolb is healthy enough to
play.

While that may seem like a tough decision for a coach like
Ken Whisenhunt to make, the truth is it’s a great problem
to have.

“It’s a luxury to have two guys that you think can play in
this league,” Jaworski said. “John certainly has performed
well the last couple weeks and he deserves consideration.”
