Adin Hill will start in net for the Arizona Coyotes in a Thursday road game against the Nashville Predators as starter Antti Raanta sits with a bone bruise, reports 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station’s John Gambadoro.

Raanta is considered day-to-day after he left Tuesday’s game against the Minnesota Wild following the second period. That game marked the starter’s third outing back from a lower-body injury suffered at the beginning of November.

Coyotes GM John Chayka told Doug & Wolf on 98.7 FM Wednesday that he didn’t believe Raanta’s latest injury is the same as his last one.

Hill, who has made one start this year and has five for his career, replaced Raanta on Tuesday and made five saves. The 22-year-old has appeared twice this season and hasn’t allowed a goal while recording six saves. In four games last year, he posted 115 saves in 129 attempts for a .891 save percentage.

Because the Coyotes are also without backup goalie Darcy Kuemper, who also has a lower-body injury,  23-year-old Hunter Miska will back up Hill.

Miska has one game of NHL action under his belt and has made eight saves in nine opportunities.

The Coyotes also claimed goalie Calvin Pickard off waivers on Thursday, though it is unclear when he will be able to join the team.
