Arizona State’s Zylan Cheatham recorded his first career triple-double on Saturday helping him his first Pac-12 Player of the Week Award.
The senior forward recorded just the second triple-double in school history with 14 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists in ASU’s 83-71 win against Texas Southern. He was one assist shy of a triple-double against Omaha on Wednesday, three days prior to earning his first.
ASU freshman guard Luguentz Dort earned player of the week honors last week following his MVP performance at the MGM Resorts Main Event in Las Vegas.
Cheatham, a product of South Mountain High School, lead the Suns Devils to a 7-0 start for the second straight season. ASU’s 20 non-conference winning streak is the longest active stretch in the NCAA.
The Sun Devils entered the latest Associated Press top-25 poll on Monday at No. 20, the only ranked team in the Pac-12.
ASU will face No. 6 ranked Nevada, also undefeated (8-0), in its second matchup against a ranked team on Friday at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
