Cardinals can’t just focus on one area of 49ers offense

Sunday’s matchup against the San Francisco 49ers will
probably be one of the Cardinals’ toughest games this
season.

The Cardinals have momentum, rolling off two straight
wins, but the team has to travel to San Francisco to take
on the seventh-ranked offense and first-ranked defense of
the 49ers.

The Niners’ offense has come alive under new head coach
Jim Harbaugh. Last year, under Mike Singletary, the 49ers
ranked 24th in the league.

Cardinals defensive tackle Darnell Dockett knows the team
will have to focus on every aspect of the 49ers offense if
the Cards are to be successful.

“In this type of game you’ve just got to play football,”
Dockett said. “You really can’t go in there and count one
or two guys and say ‘we got to eliminate [them],’ this is
more like a will game than anything else.

“We’ve got to go out there and play all-around football
all together. You can’t go out there and try to make a
play, you’ve got to just play solid technique. They don’t
make a lot of mistakes and we can’t make a lot of
mistakes.”

Dockett says the team has been preparing this week with a
special motto in mind.

“You either whoopin ass or getting your ass whooped,” he
said.

The defensive lineman remembers what the feeling was like
when the Cardinals were in a similar position the 49ers
are currently in.

“Playing against a team that’s 8-1 and we were that team
four years ago at 8-1, no matter what you put out on the
field we were going to win,” Dockett said. “That’s their
mentality right now. I’m excited our team’s excited and
were going to go up there an play some good football.”
