Arizona State will add a four-star quarterback to the impending position battle next season as four-star recruit Jayden Daniels has committed to the Sun Devils.

According to 247 Sports, Daniels was the top-ranked dual threat quarterback in the country and the highest-ranked quarterback that had yet to commit. He’s ranked No. 82 among all football recruits nationally.

Daniels is a senior at Cajon High School in San Bernadino and joins Joey Yellen and Ethan Long as the other quarterback commitments for the 2019 recruiting class. ASU currently has freshmen Bobby Avina and Beau Barrington, redshirt freshman Ryan Kelley, sophomore Grayson Barry and redshirt sophomores Dillon Sterling-Cole and Kurt Walding on its roster at the quarterback position as redshirt senior Manny Wilkins will finish his career.

This season at Cajon, Daniels threw for a 70.7 completion percentage and 4,515 yards in 14 games while tossing 60 touchdowns to just four interceptions. He also rushed for 1,536 yards on 168 carries (9.1 yards per carry) with 16 rushing touchdowns.

His numbers last season, his junior year, weren’t much different.

According to 247 Sports, the finalists in the running for Daniels’ services included UCLA, Utah and Cal. He received offers from Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Ohio State, Penn State and others.
