The Arizona Cardinals planned to interview New Orleans Saints assistant head coach Dan Campbell for their head coaching vacancy on Saturday, per 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station’s John Gambadoro.

On Sunday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the two sides completed an interview on Saturday night.

An assistant with the Saints since 2016, the 42-year-old Campbell previously coached with the Miami Dolphins from 2010-15. He posted a 5-7 record taking over as interim head coach for the fired Joe Philbin in 2015.

Last year, Campbell reportedly interviewed for the offensive coordinator position with the Minnesota Vikings. John DeFilipo ended up getting the job, but was later fired in the season.

In addition to the Cardinals, the Browns and Packers have confirmed interviewing Campbell.

Los Angeles Rams quarterbacks coach Zac Taylor was supposed to have an interview on Saturday, as first reported by the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. But that report was unconfirmed as of Sunday morning.

Taylor and Campbell both were under a time crunch to finish interviews during the bye week ahead of their divisional playoff match ups with the Rams and Saints, respectively.

In addition to Campbell and Taylor, former Miami Dolphins head coach Adam Gase had an interview scheduled for Wednesday, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Yahoo Sports’ Charles Robinson reported USC offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury was also expected to interview with the Cardinals, but later reports said that USC was declining interview requests.

Former Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy and Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy both reportedly declined interview requests.

The Cardinals fired head coach Steve Wilks on Monday. The Cardinals went 3-13 under Wilks, the worst record in the NFL.
