Recently-fired Denver Broncos head coach Vance Joseph met with the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday as the team searches for a defensive coordinator under head coach Kliff Kingsbury, reports NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Joseph comes off his second season with Denver that saw the Broncos finish at 6-10 after a 5-11 season in 2017.

He has already interviewed with the Cincinnati Bengals for their opening at head coach and was reportedly in the mix to be the defensive coordinator under new head coach Adam Gase’s staff with the New York Jets. Rapoport reported Thursday that following the conclusion of his interview with the Cardinals, Joseph was heading to Cleveland to interview with the Browns.

The 46-year-old would bring a good deal of NFL experience to Kingsbury’s staff. Prior to coaching in Denver, Joseph was the Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator in 2016 and defensive backs coach with the San Francisco 49ers (2006-10), Houston Texans (2011-13) and Bengals (2014-15).

With the Broncos, Joseph coached a 3-4 defense led by outside linebacker Von Miller, who was fourth in the NFL with 14.5 sacks last season.

Arizona general manager Steve Keim said Wednesday the Cardinals were searching for a “veteran” defensive coordinator who would run a 3-4 defense, not a 4-3 that was deployed by former Cardinals coach Steve Wilks, who was fired after a 3-13 season.

Along with Joseph, the Cardinals have also shown interest in defensive coordinator candidates Dom Capers, Chuck Pagano and Mike Nolan, reported 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station’s John Gambadoro.
