The Arizona Coyotes have acquired center Jordan Weal from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for defenseman Jacob Graves and a sixth-round pick in the 2019 NHL Draft, the team announced Friday.

Weal, 26, has nine points in 28 games with the Flyers this season and will bolster the Coyotes’ center position, which has been depleted with injuries.

“Jordan is a smart, skilled player with great hockey sense,” Coyotes GM John Chayka said. “He’s a good skater and a versatile player who will add depth to our forward group.”

Christian Dvorak hasn’t played this season, Nick Schmaltz recently suffered a season-ending injury and the Coyotes announced Friday that Brad Richardson is week-to-week with an upper-body injury.

Weal is in his fourth NHL season and the Coyotes will be his third team.

He began his NHL career with the Los Angeles Kings during the 2015-16 season and has spent the past three seasons in Philadelphia.

Weal’s best season came in 2017-18, when he recorded 21 points, including a career-high eight goals, in 69 games.
